Privacy Policy
This policy explains what the Kata app (“the app”) collects about you, why, where it is kept, and how you can delete it. We try to collect as little as possible.
1. Who is responsible
[Operator name and country] is responsible for your data. Contact: support@katawords.online.
2. What we collect
- Your email address. It is used to create your account and to send you the sign-in code. We do not ask for your name or a password.
- Your learning progress. For each card: whether you have learned it, when you last answered and when it is due again. For each study day: how many cards you finished, your daily goal and how many seconds you studied. Also four settings: your daily goal, the colour theme, light or dark mode, and the playback speed.
- Technical data of the service. Our providers (see below) keep ordinary technical records when the app talks to them, such as your IP address and the time of a request, for security and to run the service.
We do not collect your name, location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers. The app has no advertising and no analytics or crash-reporting service.
3. What stays only on your phone
- Reminder settings (time and days) and the notification permission.
- Voice input, if you turn it on: the app asks for the microphone and speech recognition. The recognition is done by Apple or Google, depending on your phone, and they may process your voice to do it. We do not receive or keep your voice.
4. Why we use it
- To give you an account and let you sign in (your email).
- To keep your progress and show it on another phone (your progress).
- To keep the service safe and working (technical data).
We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
5. Who else handles your data
- Supabase keeps your account and your progress in its database and runs the sign-in. [Data region of the project.]
- Resend delivers the email with your sign-in code.
- Apple and Google run the app stores and, if you use voice input, speech recognition on your phone.
If we add a paid subscription, purchases will be handled by Apple or Google and a service that manages subscriptions, and this policy will be updated before that happens.
6. How long we keep it
As long as your account exists. When you delete your account in the app (Account, Delete account), your email, your sign-in record and all your progress are deleted from our database at once. Copies in our provider’s backups may remain for a short time after that. [How long, to be checked with the provider.] Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account.
7. Your choices and rights
- You can delete your account and all your data yourself, in the app.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it, by writing to support@katawords.online. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to or limit some uses of your data and to complain to your data protection authority.
8. Security
The app talks to our servers over an encrypted connection. Each account can read only its own rows in the database. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your email account safe, because the sign-in code is sent there.
9. Children
The app is not meant for children under [13 / 16, to be checked]. If you think a child has given us their data, write to us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
If we change this policy, we will show the new text here and change the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is important.
